The om Habiba Foundation organized an event as part of the International Women's Day celebrations, titled "Women and Disability." The event was part of the project to enhance the community participation of girls and youth, including persons with disabilities. The project is implemented by the Umm Habiba Foundation within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), which implements it on behalf of the German government, with co-funding from the European Union through the Equal Opportunities and Social Development Project. The opening session was delivered by Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, followed by an open session on the opportunities and challenges facing girls and women with disabilities in Aswan. A session was also held on autism spectrum disorders and the challenges faced by mothers of children with disabilities, followed by success stories from some girls with disabilities. The event concluded with a dialogue session on how civil society organizations and governmental organizations can integrate girls and women with disabilities into activities.
